Class Descriptions
Pilates:
Our Pilates mat classes teach the exercises and principles of Joseph Pilates.  This classical, systematic and integrative approach focuses on a flowing style which allows the body time to develop, balance and transform naturally.  Individual Attention is paid to each student and students will progress only when they are ready to handle the demands of advanced exercises.

Vinyasa Yoga:
With a strong focus on proper alignment, Vinyasa (or Flow) yoga moves mindfully from one posture to the next using the breath as the link.  Through this moving meditation you will journey through a creative sequence of postures that challenge the body and calm the mind.  You will leave this class feeling strong, centered and rejuvenated.  This well-balanced, active class encourages the use of props (blocks, straps, blankets) and is appropriate for all levels - though some yoga experience is recommended.

Amrit Yoga:
Amrit Yoga is a practice that revitalizes the body , calms the mind and deepens self-awareness. It brings the body, mind and spirit into a state of harmony and balance.  The Amrit method of yoga teaches compassion for our bodies. A balanced sequence of yoga postures, suitable to all body types, stretches and strengthens the entire body, releasing the chronic tension that so often dulls vitality.  Energy feeling balanced, energized to resume our life, and naturally motivated to sustain your practicenaturally flows to the areas of your body most in need of rejuvenation and healing. 

Beginning/Basic Ballet Technique:
These classes are designed for adults who wish to begin the study of classical ballet.  No prior experience is necessary.  The 90 mi class will consist of barre exercises that focus on proper body alignment as well as the steps which foster core and leg strength and flexibility.   The center work will introduce elementary steps including "port de bras" (arm movement), simple jumps and turns.  The grande allegro will incorporate some of ballet's most beautiful steps such as the waltz and diagonal turns.

Intermediate Ballet Technique:
These classes are for adults with previous ballet training and solid technique.  This 90 min class will consist of a quicker barre with many exercises done on demi-pointe.  The center floor work will include barre exercises, adagio, petit allegro with beats and pirouettes.  Grande allegro will incorporate challenging steps such as various waltzes, pique and chaine turns and grand jets.

Pointe:
Pointe and pre-pointe classes are available for students who are physically and technically ready for the demands of dancing on pointe.  Must take a minimum of three technique classes per week.
